HUNTING

The pheasant season is in FULL SWING.  The number of birds in the area is at an all time high and the sunny days keep coming.  We have been very busy since the middle of September and having steady bookings until we close on the 13th of December.  We have plenty of availability in the coming weeks and the long range forecast is for more nice days.  2010 has been our busiest hunting season in the 8 year history of Sutton Bay and we still have a month to go.  Call if you want to bring a group out and you will have the time of your life.

FISHING

Fishing on Lake Oahe has quieted down for the season.  Not many boats on the lake and the water temps are cooling down to the point that the fishing is pretty slow.  2010 was a fabulous year for walleyes with the bite lasting from late May well into September.  This is one of the longest seasons I can remember and all reports are positive for the coming year.

Expectations exceeded!

Hunting: The pheasant season at Sutton Bay opened with a bang, and has exceeded even our high expectations. Hundreds of hunters have taken advantage of excellent ground habitat and favorable weather. Their efforts are producing an amazing number of birds. As always, South Dakota offers the world’s premier pheasant hunting, and the hunting at Sutton Bay is continues to be one of its crown jewels. As we all know, fall goes by too quickly and while October bookings are heavy, we have plenty of openings in November. Field harvesting will be complete, the cooler weather favors the dogs and the birds begin to group up, making for explosive flushes. There is no better way to bond with clients, gather friends or reward your employees than chasing wily ringnecks. John, Chuck and Kurt are ready to assist you, so grab your calendar and book a November hunt now!

Fishing: The fishing continues to be good, maybe a little less predictable but still very good. We have had members catch salmon in the past couple of weeks and the walleye are still biting. We are always ready to take you fishing so let us know if that is what you want to do. Take advantage of the great weather and finish your fall in style by combining some golf or pheasant hunting!

You can feel it in the air!

Fishing: The fishing has been and continues to be outstanding. Some say the best in 30 years. We are still seeing a consistently strong walleye bite. Any day now we expect the salmon to begin hitting, making this a great time to catch a lot of fish.

Hunting: Bird hunting opened on 9/1. A party of eight shot 57 birds late last week. Despite the winter weather our spring hatch was strong and the lack of storms made our conditions perfect. Birds are plentiful, but be alert when shooting, with so many young birds, identifying roosters is slightly trickier. Warm up with some sporting clays and get ready for some fast action.
