Hunting
Sutton Bay is a perfect place to experience hunting in the Midwest. We have over 3,600 acres of licensed preserve, allowing us to hunt pheasants from September 1st through March 31st. In addition to the preserves, we have another 1,000 acres at Sutton Bay and 5,000 acres of leased land that ensures a wide variety of hunting experiences.
Hunters of all skill levels will be challenged with hunts in agricultural plots of corn, milo, and sorghum, plus tree belts, waterways, and grasslands. Experienced guides with trained dogs will conduct all hunts, and all game will be processed and prepared for transportation prior to your departure from Sutton Bay.
Lake Oahe is located in the central flyway for hundreds of thousands of Canada Geese migrating to the Southern US. Waterfowl enthusiasts can pass shoot geese along the bluffs of Lake Oahe or hunt with decoys in pits located in winter wheat and picked cornfields. A private lake being developed on the ranch will enhance the goose hunting by providing the geese a place to sit without being bothered. This lake will be aerated so that it remains open all winter long. All licensing and other necessary services will be handled on site, guaranteeing a stress free and successful hunting environment.
